Often referred to as wine growing “heaven” for varietals that flourish in cooler weather, the Santa Lucia Highlands are home to several of the most celebrated Chardonnay and Pinot Noir labels -- anywhere. Designated as a unique viticulture region in 1991, the elevated, east-facing vineyards receive early morning sun, which is usually tempered by a light fog that forms in the Monterey Bay and is then channeled through the Salinas Valley. This ideal climatic formula results in an exceptionally long growing season, allowing the grapes to develop fully and attain maximum varietal potential. We’re proud to feature a big selection of these world-class, local wines. We’re also happy to say that many of the wine makers, owners and staff are regulars here at LALLApalooza.
