For whatever reason, people seem to have more opinions about pizza than just about any other food. Some think a folded New York style thin slice is the ultimate. Chicago's stuffed crust style is the pie of choice for many.
But the one thing pizza lovers all over tend to agree on is, there's something about that certain subtle smokiness you can only get from a wood-burning oven that always improves a pizza's flavor.
Of course, when your ancestors come from Naples, Italy -- where the modern pizza was invented -- there really is no discussion: A wood-burning pizza oven is an absolute must-have. The very act of NOT placing your wonderfully simple, hand-crafted classic Margherita pizza on anything other than the super-hot bricks of a wood oven is seen by many old-school Neapolitans as a sign of disrespect to the memory of Italy's Queen Margherita herself, after whom this patriotic red, white, and green pizza was named, way back in 1889.
Legend and lore aside, we know you'll agree that the Neapolitan-style pizzas emerging hot from the LALLApalooza wood-burning oven are a cut above your average slice. Our made-from-scratch crust uses additive-free Caputo brand flour from Naples. Imported, San Marzano tomatoes are the basis for our red sauces. Our toppings lean towards traditional favorites like pepperoni, prosciutto, grilled chicken, and mozzarella cheese. But we like to change things up every once in a while too -- so don't be suprised to see a BBQ Chicken pizza on our menu, or a seasonal veggie combination.
